Welcome to Birch Class

A warm welcome to all of our new pupils and their families, and of course welcome back to our continuing pupils in Birch. Mrs Robinson, Miss Eccleston & Mr Arevalo, will be supporting your child throughout their journey with us.

On this page, you will find information about what your child is learning in the coming weeks. I will be updating the page periodically, with pictures of our superheroes and their adventures in Birch.

 

English: Literacy Tree

our new book is called Sparky by Jenny Offill. Mrs Robinson will reveal our new book to us shortly..... its about a little girl, who wants a pet and persists on bugging her mother about having one. Linked to this book and her choice of pet.

We are arranging a trip to London Zoo, towards the end of this term.

 

Maths: Maths No Problem

All of us in Birch are working at different Maths levels. The first topic is money, then some of us will move onto time and then fractions.Others will cover money, area and perimeter.

 

Science: Animals including humans - Excuse me are these your teeth?

  We will be exploring human and animal teeth, their role in the digestive system, different types of teeth and tooth survival.

 

Computing: Connecting networks 

We will explore how a network can share messages with another network to form the internet. How network devices involved in this, such as routers, discuss what should be kept in and out of a network to keep safe. Learn about the World Wide Web, websites and web pages. Learn that

that not everything they see on the internet is true, honest, or accurate. are real, before looking at Finally, find out how quickly information can spread beyond their control

 

 R.E. topic-Judaism  

Enquiry question: Does celebrating Shavuot help Jewish children feel closer to God?
Theme: Shavuot/Festivals.

The children will leave about belonging to a community, rules and the 10 commandments

 

PHSE: Being me in my World

The children will learn to explain why their behaviour can impact other people in class. They will also compare their own and their friends’ choices and will learn why some choices are better than others.

 

 

PE: Invasion games and multi-skills

We will be looking at different sports that require 'invasion techniques'; Hockey, Netball and Football and working on our general fitness and mukti-skills too.

 

Art: Monet and Van Gogh

We will be exploring the works of the famous artists Claude Monet and Vincent Van Gogh. We will be using a range of techniques and materials to try and recreate some of their most famous pieces.
