  • Hot Hot Hot!

    Wed 24 May 2017

We are going to experience some warmer weather from today, with forecasters predicting highs of 30 degrees!

Can you please ensure that your super hero arrives with sun screen already applied (do not send in bottles for them to apply it in school) and a hat.

We will ensure that they have (as we do every day) access to water and we will encourage them to stay in the shade during playtimes.

  • Share Aware - On Line Support

    Thu 18 May 2017

To kids, online life is real life. And, just like in real life, kids need help to stay safe online.

Share Aware is an NSPCC and O2 campaign to help parents have regular and informed conversations with their child about online safety. We're aiming to get every family in the UK chatting about their kids' online world, just like they would about their day at school.

We tell children that’s it’s good to share, but online it’s different and sometimes it can be dangerous. Through our straight-forward, step-by-step advice and Icebreaker email series, we’ll show parents how to untangle the web and teach children how to make the right decisions online, even when parents aren’t there.

    • Our new TV ad – Safety advice from a 10 year old.
    • Icebreakers email series  – We’ve teamed up with O2 to create a bespoke email series full of tips and information on different issues eg cyberbullying and inappropriate content, with activities parents can complete with their child.
    • Mumsnet partnership Join our Twitter Q&A at 12.30pm on 16th May using #ShareAware, alongside a Mumsnet Facebook live.
    • Family agreements – We have created a downloadable family agreements document for families to complete and fill in together.
    • Share Aware homepage - Read our step-by-step guide to being Share Aware and our TEAM (Talk, Explore, Manage, Agree) framework on how to stay safe online in four simple steps.
    • Net Aware - Our guide to the most popular social networks sites, apps and games that children use. New sites site such as Musical.ly, Kiwi and Pokemon Go have been added this year, along with a breaking news page and top tips from O2 Gurus on blocking, private account settings or in-app purchases. The new Net Aware can be downloaded on both iOS and Android.
    • Teaching resources – Download Share Aware teaching resources for use in the classroom.
    • Specialised advice - Advisors at our O2 & NSPCC Online Safety Helpline – 0808 800 5002 – are here to help with any questions, or anyone can make an appointment with a Guru in store.

    Just a quick update...

    School is re-open tomorrow.

The buses will collect and drop off as usual.

The nest provision will be open until 12.30 per day whilst we re-organise rooms.

  • EMERGENCY! PLEASE READ!

    Wed 17 May 2017

Due to the heavy rain last night, we have had major flooding throughout the building, resulting in the roof and some ceilings caving in.

Our building is currently unsafe for pupils.

Do not send your super hero to school today.

We will contact you with updates as soon as we know.

The buses have been contacted and you should have received a text.

    Mon 15 May 2017

    The Day The Crayons Quit

Phew! Now that the SATs are completed, we can have some fun!

Our super hero staff have come up with some amazing activities based on the book "The Day The Crayons Quit".

Your super hero will be exploring some new skills as well as cementing some of their already amazing abilities in language, maths, art, ICT, drama and much, much more.

Keep a close watch on their class pages as more and more of their work is revealed.

We will also Dojo, text and tweet updates so that you are kept up to date.

We can't wait to show you their amazing work!

  • Boiler Issues

    Tue 02 May 2017

    Dear Super Hero Parent,

Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, we have an issue with our gas boilers and so our heating and hot water will not be available for a couple of days, whilst TRANSCO investigate the problem.

School will remain open, and we have procedures in place to ensure that our super heroes can wash their hands etc - however, can you please ensure that you send in your super hero with a jumper so that whilst they are in school, they are able to keep warm.

Thanking you in advance for your co-operation

    Meic and the Waterside Team
