  • World Book Day - POSTPONED!

    Wed 28 Feb 2018

    Dear Super Heroes and Parents/Carers,

I have no idea if we will be open tomorrow as this all depends on the snow and of course, if transport and staff are able to get to school.

It is, however, World Book Day tomorrow and even if we are open,I would like to postpone it until next Friday March 9th.

The thought of our super heroes dealing with snow/ice and fancy dress is not good - wet fancy dress is not pleasant.

If we are open, come to school in normal school uniform and a change of clothes (joggers, socks etc) incase they get wet at playtime.

Hope you've all kept warm and toasty and I will endeavour to inform you via Dojo, Twitter and the website by 7am tomorrow if we are open/closed.

    Thank you for your support!

  • We are CLOSED today - Wednesday February 28th

    Wed 28 Feb 2018

We are CLOSED today - Wednesday February 28th.

School transport are unable to collect our super heroes and ensure they are safe en route to and from school.

Please keep an eye on Dojo, website and Twitter for updates on opening tomorrow.

    Keep safe and warm please!

  • School is open today ... but keep your eyes peeled!

    Tue 27 Feb 2018

We are OPEN today as the roads are clear and the trains and buses are running.

We will obviously keep a close eye on the weather today - if there are any changes, we will update you via Class Dojo, the school website and twitter - so please keep your mobile device handy.

As it is REALLY cold today, please ensure that your super hero is dressed for the weather : hat, gloves, good coat and shoes. We will still be going out to play and we really want them to enjoy their break rather than shiver and freeze.

    Keep warm and safe!

  • Mummification!

    Mon 26 Feb 2018

Our Westwood class explored their Egyptian topic today by mummifying King Tutum Kyle!

They followed instructions as Anubis (as chief embalmer), led the ceremony.

    What an amazing morning!

  • Weather Warning! What will happen with the snow?

    Mon 26 Feb 2018

    Morning everyone!

    BRRRRRR!!!!!!

As you are well aware, we are forecasted to receive significant artic conditions this week, in particular this afternoon and tomorrow morning.

Firstly, can you ensure that your super hero is dressed appropriately for the weather conditions ... we don't want anyone complaining that they have frost bite!

As part of our Critical Incident Response the following will happen:

We will inform you via Class Dojo, Twitter and website if we have to close the school. Please ensure you keep an eye on these as this will be the first and quickest method we have to tell you what is happening.
Weather and news channels will be monitored throughout the day to ensure that transport information is as accurate as possible.
    • School Bus Company are in control of how and when our superheroes are picked up. We will be keeping in touch with them throughout the day to ensure that we know of any changes. We will let you know asap.
If we have to close school tomorrow morning, we will post it on the website, Dojo and twitter. Please look from 7am onwards.
Throughout the potential closure, we will be in contact via Dojo, the website and twitter to let you know when we can re-open.Please remember - we will not close the school unless it is absolutely necessary.
    • Please ensure you are safe!

  • World Book Day March 1st

    Thu 22 Feb 2018

It's World Book Day next week and as you know, our focus is on reading and enjoying books.

We will be focusing on two authors...Tom Fletcher and Clare Balding.

Tom Fletcher has written a book called "The Creakers" whilst Clare Balding has written a book based on animals but giving them human characteristics.

Mrs Shotton is going to read "The Creakers" to the entire school - including Nurture and nest throughout the week.

For our dressing up theme on the day...we'd like our super heroes to come dressed as either an animal or come in their school uniform  -  both link to the books above, as in The Creakers the world is upside down and back to front (so we will be reversing our uniform - wearing tops backwards etc) or as in the Clare Balding book, everyone is an animal.

The entire day will have reading and creative activities and should be an amazing day.

We will be giving out the World Book Vouchers on Friday so that our super heroes have an opportunity to purchase books.

The biggest question to answer is ... what will the staff look like on the day?!?!

He will be taking part in a either a day or night time ride with a teddy bear during a two week period in July. The relay tracks all across the UK.

If you would like to sponsor him, a link will be sent out via Twitter and Class Dojo.
